Trailer For The Woman in Black Sequel.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Woman In Black movie which was released in 2012 and starred Daniel Radcliffe. It was a low-key British horror which focused more on giving you genuine creeps and a good old scare as opposed to grossing you out with an all too familiar torture porn route most modern horrors seem to favour.

The trailer above is for the sequel entitled The Woman In Black: Angel Of Death, directed by Tom Harper, (Misfits, Peaky Blinders) and stars Helen McCrory, (who played Narcissa Malfoy in the final three Harry Potter films), and picks up a few decades after the original where Eel Marsh House is being used as a sanctuary for schoolchildren who have been shipped out of London during the Blitz of World War II, under the guidance of their young schoolteacher Eve. One by one, the children begin acting strangely and Eve, with the help of local military commander Harry, discovers that the group has awoken a dark force even more terrifying and evil than the city’s air raids. Eve must now confront her own demons to save the children and survive the woman in black.

Pretty clever development for a sequel and judging by the trailer it looks to have remained focused on good old-fashioned scares like a proper ghost story should.

The Woman In Black: Angel Of Death goes on general release on January 2nd, 2015.
