ScarJo In Line For Ghost In The Shell Remake.

The Guardian, among other sources, is reporting that Scarlett Johansson has been offered the lead role in a live-action remake of the classic anime Ghost In The Shell.

Apparently $10m dollars has been tabled in an attempt to woo ScarJo to the project, a move some are suggesting now confirms the actress’s status as an A-list action movie star after her more recent involvement with Marvel Studios.

The remake itself is rumoured to be directed by Rupert Sanders, (Snow White and the Huntsman), with development handled by Dreamworks. The original adaptation of the comic which was released back in 1995 followed the work of Major Motoko Kusanagi and the hunt of the public security agency Section 9 for a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master. With the assistance of her team, Motoko Kusanagi tracks and finds their suspect, only to be drawn into a complex sequence of political intrigue and a cover-up as to the identity and goals of the Puppet Master.

No word yet if Johansson has confirmed herself to the project but considering her characterisation of Black Widow in the Avengers and Captain America movies her selection for lead seems like the perfect choice.
