Quvenzhane Wallis Cast As Annie .

It was announced today that 9 year-old actress Quvenzhane Wallis, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in last year’s movie Beasts Of The Southern Wild, is now tipped to fill the shoes of Annie.

Director Michael Gluck, (Friends With Benefits, Easy A), is re-booting the classic musical with a modern slant, and is currently re-writing portions of the screenplay, the first draft of which was penned by actress Emma Thompson.

Annie will be produced by Will Smith, his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and Jay-Z who have all been searching for an appropriate lead for the movie since Smith’s daughter Willow dropped out of the film.
