Will Terminator: Genesis Be A Reboot?

By now you’ll be aware a fifth Terminator movie is on it’s way, whether you asked for it or not, and that Arnie will be fleshing out a role in the movie in some form or another. But there’s been some recent confusion as to where this latest franchise installment is to sit. Is it a sequel? Is it a remake? Or is it a reboot?

Sources over at Moviehole are claiming that the film will be a firm reboot, much in the same way Star Trek was rebooted by J.J. Abrams and that new characters will cross paths with old characters from the franchise in a Back To The Future II style plotline, with writers paying particular attention to the first two films in the franchise and focusing less on the last two.

Revealing a little more technical detail about the project Arnie recently spoke to fan website thearnoldfans.com:

“We start filming in April and it will be a four-and-a-half month long shoot. Most of it will be done in New Orleans, with some filming in San Francisco and maybe a little in LA. The last Terminator was when I was Governor and so I couldn’t be in that movie, but now I’m back again and they are very excited about having me in the film.

David Ellison has plenty of money to do it well, in partnership with Paramount Pictures who are going to release the movie through their distribution. It’s going to come out on the July 4th weekend in 2015. The preparation is going well and the script is fantastic, so I’m really looking forward to it!”
