Brad Bird Rules Himself Out. Lawrence Kasdan Rules Himself In.

Ever since Disney purchased all things Lucas speculation as to who will direct the next episode of Star Wars has been rife. Possible names have been flying about the internet like confetti but there appears to be a problem. It seems no-one is that interested in taking the project on. So far the following directors have ruled themselves out; J.J Abrams, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Zack Snyder and George Lucas.

Now it seems Brad Bird, (The Invincibles, Mission Impossible 4), can be added to that growing list as he publicly announced on Twitter that he wouldn’t be taking the project on:

Although Episode IV doesn’t yet have a director attached the good news for Star Wars fans is the recent announcement that Lawrence Kasdan is to return to co-write and produce the new planned trilogy. Kasdan, as most fanboys will remember, played an integral role in writing The Empire Strikes Back, which is arguably the best Star Wars movie to date.
