In an official announcement today by Walt Disney Co’s chief executive officer Bob Iger it was confirmed that the latest Star Wars movie will be set 30 years after the events of Return Of The Jedi, making the movie a bona-fide sequel.

Ignoring for a minute that calendar months and years is apparently the exact same concept of measuring time in a galaxy far, far away this latest news plays into what most of us knew already. With filming due to start in May director JJ Abrams has been tight-lipped over any details relating to this movie except that it will feature three new young heroes alongside ‘some familiar faces‘, (an older Han, Luke and Leia perhaps?). There is currently an intricate casting process underway with a few names in the running but nothing so far confirmed.

Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled for release on Dec 18th 2015
