Ray Winstone Is Your New Angelo Pappas.
British actor Ray Winstone, (Sexy Beast, Noah), is now attached to the Point Break remake, (which should be re-titled Point Less), by taking on the role originally played by Gary Busey, that of FBI Agent Angelo Pappas.
Which means he’ll partner-up with Luke Bracey, (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), who is playing the part of FBI Agent Johnny Utah. We already now Gerard Butler, (300, Olympus Has Fallen), is to take on the role of Bodhi, made famous by the late Patrick Swayze, and movie website Collider have an in-depth interview with producer Broderick Johnson about the plot of the new movie.
Apparently the remake will be different to the original in that it will retain the main characters and their relationships but the plot will be divergent. So what’s the point? Why not just change their names and relationships and produce an entirely different movie which doesn’t have the title Point Break? Well, apparently it’s the special chemistry and history between the film’s two main characters, Utah and Bodhi which Johnson wanted to retain:
“What we found fascinating about the original film, and is preserved in this, is the character work and the relationship between Bodhi and Utah, who are these two gentleman on opposites of the law, but yet, at the same time, share a common bond. That’s the one element that the two movies share.”
He also confirmed that surfing will feature in the film but extreme sports like free-climbing, motocross and wing-suiting will also have a role in the remake and that it’ll be shot both in IMAX and 3D. You can read the entire Collider interview with Broderick Johnson HERE.
Personally speaking there will always be only one Angelo Pappas.
