Kickboxer Reboot Gets A Lead & A Director.
Now that pretty much every movie from the 80s is getting a reboot or a remake it comes as no surprise that the 1989 cult classic Kickboxer will recieve the same treatment.
The original film announced the arrival of Jean-Claude Van Damme to the world and its hoped the remake will do the same for Alain Moussi, a professional stuntman and martial artist who has worked on a whole range of films including X-Men: Days Of Future Past and Whitehouse Down. Moussi will play Kurt Sloane the lead role made famous by Van Damme and fleshing out the rest of the cast wil be UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and WWE superstar Dave Bautista who can be seen this summer in the forthcoming Gaurdians Of The Galaxy.
Taking charge of these testosterone fuelled man machines will be Chinese director Stepehen Fung, (Tai Chi Hero), who it is hoped will kickstart this reboot into a possible franchise. The Kickboxer remake will follow David and Kurt Sloan, the descendants of a California dynasty of champions. After David wins the Karate World Championship, a promoter lures him to Hong Kong despite his brother’s protests. When David dies, Kurt turns to his former mentor Xian Chow to seek revenge on the viscous Tong Po.
So pretty much exactly like the original.
