TMNT 2 Has Been Greenlit & There’s Nothing You Can Do.
It’s safe to say that Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot/remake/rehash is pretty much universally hated by critics but that didn’t stop the movie raking in worldwide box office receipts of $93.7m at the weekend. With that kind of succesful opening against a $125m budget it won’t be very long until the film starts to make a sizable profit and so we come to the dreaded news we were all fearing, the possibility of a sequel.
As the film knocked Guardians Of The Galaxy off the top spot in the movie charts this weekend due to millions of cinema goers flatly ignoring the fact the movie itself was a festering pile of crap, Paramount was keen to let everyone know that even more copious amounts of cash will now be given to Michael Bay to head up a TMNT sequel, (I wonder if it’ll be called 2MN2?). The second installment of the rebooted franchise has been given the release date of June 3rd, 2016 and Bay has confirmed he will return as producer as will the writing duo of Josh Appelbaum and AndrĂ© Nemec, no word yet on whether Jonathan Liebesman will be given a second shot at directing.
We are getting nearer to that Michael Bay produced Jaws remake.
