Zombieland 2 Gets The Greenlight.

Even though I’m one of those annoying pricks who makes it known that the zombie genre is tired and exhausted any time I get the chance I would be a liar if this news did not fill me with schoolgirl glee. I mean just look at that amazing opening credit sequence above.

I happily paid money to go see Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg team-up to smash the living dead back in 2009 and loved every frame of that movie and apparently I wasn’t the only one as Zombieland raked in an impressive $102m of box office takings, against a tidy $23.5m budget. Realising that they had a potential cash cow on their hands Sony Pictures were obviously keen to roll out a sequel, but Eisenberg was less than so and the project was stuck on ice.

Now it seems the plan has been thawed out as movie website Deadline are reporting that writer Dave Callaham, (Doom, The Expendables), has been hired to pen the script while Ruben Fleisher will resume director’s duties once again. Although this news is exciting for a fan of the first movie I do have some trepidation that the original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been bypassed for the guy who wrote The Expendables.

We will have to wait and see.
