Damon Confirms A Return To Bourne.
After firmly ruling himself out of any further involvement in the Bourne franchise after Bourne Ultimatum, it appears Matt Damon has had a change of heart and is gearing up to reprise his now iconic role.
The main reason the actor walked away from the series was due to director Paul Greengrass ruling himself out of helming The Bourne Legacy, (that one starring Jeremy Renner which five people went to see back in 2012), stating he had no intention of returning without Greengrass. Now it’s been revealed that the two will re-team for a fifth franchise installment.
Speaking to E! News recently Damon revealed:
“Yes, next year. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.”
So where does this leave us Bourne fans? Well the release date of this Damon/Greengrass collaboration has been scheduled for the same date the Legacy sequel was given. Oh dear, that is awkward.
Will the Renner sequel go ahead in the same year Damon reprises his role of Jason Bourne? Will we get two Bourne films or will one be pushed out for the other and how will that fit in with the current franchise? Will Renner’s character Aaron Cross go head-to-head with Jason? Will Greengrass just ignore the Legacy movie completely?
Which way is up? Which way is down? What’s that over there? Who the fuck said that?
