Top Gun: Maverick Stalls For A Year
The Top Gun sequel has been pushed back for a whole year.
Now don’t start getting all bitchy about this news. If you can wait 30 years for a follow-up you can wait twelve short months more.
According to website Deadline, Top Gun: Maverick will now be released on June 26th, 2020 rather than July 12, 2019. The delay is to afford the production team more time to work on complex aerial flight scenes, which Mr Cruise himself has promised to escalate the sequel into a whole new realm of epicness.
(SPOILER ALERT FOR A 30 YEAR OLD MOVIE)
The plot for Top Gun: Maverick has Tom Cruise reprise his iconic role of Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell who now works as a flight instructor who takes the son, (Miles Teller), of his late friend Goose under his wing. Presumably to show him how to pull on a flight suit, play homoerotic volleyball and fly a plane.
Nothing much else is known about the plot but the movie will see the return of Val Kilmer as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky…which will be interesting.
Roll on 2020.
