The Batman Looks Like Emo Misery Porn.

So here it is, your first look at the latest Batman franchise reboot this time starring everyone’s favorite shimmering vampire Robert Pattinson.

This time the Caped Crusader takes on Catwomen, (Zoe Kravitz), the Penguin, (Colin Farrell), and The Riddler, (Paul Dano).

Judging from the trailer this newest iteration of the Dark Knight looks a whole lot more David Fincheresque in tone, dark, broody, violent, and that all-important element for any modern reboot ‘gritty’. It looks like some sort of gothic, emo inspired misery porn.

Maybe it’s just me but I’m starting to yearn for the old satin cape-wearing, colourful, campy hi-jinks of the original 60s Batman. Even Tim Burton’s adaptions had a jocular, tongue-in-cheek tone about them. Why so serious, indeed?

The Batman is slated for release on October 1st, 2021.
