A Sequel To Safe House? Really?

I’ve not actually watched Safe House, which stars Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington, but then I don’t know many people who have. Maybe I should make new friends and broaden my horizons because apparently it was such a big box office hit a sequel is now in the works.
Universal Pictures are currently planning out a follow-up to the thriller, which dealt with former CIA agent Tobin Frost, (Washington) being sent to a CIA safe house in Cape Town run by Matt Weston, (Reynolds), after leading a life of crime.

According to the Hollywood Reporter original scriptwriter David Guggenheim has been hired and rumour has it that a prequel instead of a sequel, dealing with Reynolds character Weston may be the subject of this film.
