Spielberg Has Devised The Story For Goonies 2.

Following director Richard Donner’s surprise announcement earlier this month that a sequel to the 1985 cult classic The Goonies is actively now in development a lot of fans rightly balked at the idea. But following another on-the-spot interview with Donner he’s now revealed, to everyone’s relief, that the story-line for the sequel has been devised by Steven Spielberg.

In the video above, once again shot by TMZ, the director explained:

“Hopefully we’re going to get this done, period. Spielberg came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years, you don’t do it without him, and he came up with another storyline and he’s right on.”

There’s been a ton of rumours and suggestions that the original cast will return for a film set 30 years later with the sons and daughters of the original Goonies embarking on a high-flying adventure. Truth is without a cast, director or even an announcement a script is currently in the works all this is nothing more than conjecture…then again, if Spielberg is on-board?
