There’s Now An All Female Ghostbusters Remake On The Cards.
I understand that we’re barely into the beginning of the week and your senses might not be firing on all cyclinders yet, so this following story comes with a severe health warning due to the highly confusing and bewildering nature of the following content.
There are reports across the Internet that film director Paul Feig is currently in talks with Sony pictures to remake the 1984 sci-fi comedy classic Ghostbusters. The twist? The entire cast will be female. With film fans patiently waiting to learn the outcome of the much talked about third Ghostbusters movie, (with the inclusion of original cast members), this news of a possible female-led remake seems…unnecessary? If the talks are successful and Feig is given the green light I’m pretty sure this will be the first time a property will be given a remake while an original franchise sequel is also in-development. It’s like the snake is trying to eat its own tail.
Feig, who directed Bridesmaids and The Heat , has apparently tabled the idea of the all female remake with comedic actresses taking over the roles of Venkman & Co, my money would be on Melissa McCarthy, Kirsten Wiig, Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph. I’m not completely opposed to this idea I just find it confusing that a standalone remake is now being negotiated over, while a third film for the original franchise is being prepped at the same time.
Hollywood is a helluva place.
