According to website Project Casting, movie director Richard Linklater is preparing to film a sequel to his 1993 cult classic Dazed And Confused in Texas and has put a call out for extras.
The as of yet untitled project is rumoured to be a straight up sequel to the film which followed a group of teenagers during the last day of school in the summer of 1976. The movie pretty much launched the careers of Matthew McConaughey, Jason London, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg and Joey Lauren Adams and is a feature I must have watched close to 30 times now.
Although details on this project are currently tight The Hollywood Reporter has hinted the movie will be about college freshmen in the late 70s, early 80s and will have a semi-autobiographical approach and will be similar in tone to Dazed And Confused.
Mmmm, if it’s about college freshmen then there’s absolutley no chance the original cast can return to reprise their original roles as they’re far too old, which is a great shame as I would’ve paid good money just to watch McConaughey utter the line : ‘Alright, alright, alright,‘ on the big screen once more. In the meantime here’s the details of the extras casting call, it certainly reads like the character casting of Dazed And Confused 2.
