‘Clean Slate’ For WWZ Sequel.
The Internet is pontificating and musing over the assumed possibilities of the plot direction the sequel to World War Z will take, all because of a throwaway line uttered by the movie’s screenwriter.
Interviewed recently by Indie Wire, writer Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke) stated the following:
“It’s not quite like the other; we’re starting with clean slate. When they’ve signed off [Paramount and Plan B], we’re on.”
This seemingly innocuous line has sent movie fanboys into a tizzy. Many are now of the opinion ‘clean slate’ means a different cast, (sans Brad Pitt), with a starkly different story to the first as opposed to a direct continuation. What’s amazing about all of this is that there’s actually a sequel in development when you consider the problems the the original faced before it’s release.
