During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly Seth Grahame-Smith, writer of Dark Shadows and the screenwriter for Beetlejuice 2, confirmed that actress Winona Ryder will be reprising her role of Lidia for the forthcoming sequel.
It’s also understood that Keaton is ready to join the cast and all that remains is for director Tim Burton to find a space in his busy schedule so cameras can start rolling. Smith explained:
I’ve emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he’s excited about the idea. I know Tim is excited about the idea. Where it stands now is Tim’s got to get ready to make [Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we’re waiting in the wings ready to go right after Peregrine’s wraps up. The ideal timeline is we’re really getting into it toward the end of this year.
So there you go. Keaton, Ryder and Burton could all begin work at the end of this year bringing Smith’s screenplay to life.
Just need to stay positive between then and now and forget about Smith’s previous work, especially Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
