Film director Neill Blomkamp, (District 9, Elysium, Chappie), recently uploaded various pieces of concept art for a secret Alien project he was working on for Fox. Unfortunately the project was cancelled but following the amount of positive attention the art received across the Internet a real desire by fans to see this movie started to emerge. Now it seems Blomkamp has signed a new deal with Fox to bring his own installment of the Alien franchise to the big screen with the director announcing on Instagram the exciting news.
Details are sketchy right now but what is certain is that this Alien sequel will have not attachment to Ridley Scott’s current Prometheus 2 project except that the film’s events will take place directly after. There has also been no confirmation that Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role as Ripley or that Michael Biehn will return as Corporal Dwayne Hicks both of whom were featured in Blomkamp’s concept art for the movie.
No word on a screenwriter or scheduled release date either but its early days and more news will surely follow regarding this sequel soon.
