No Sequel For Dragon Tattoo According to Rooney Mara.
Some disappointing news for those of you hoping for a sequel to the 2011 David Fincher adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, as it seems there isn’t any.
Actress Rooney Mara, (Side Effects, Her), who played the role of computer hacker Lisabeth Salander in the movie recently gave an interview with E where she regretfully announced that the hope of making a sequel, (which would be based on the second book of the trilogy; The Girl Who Played With Fire), was pretty much dead, stating:
“I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m sad never to do it again, but it just doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards.”
Although Mara’s comments will come as a blow to fans of the property one saving grace is that her opinion seems to conflict with director David Fincher’s, who publicly announced his enthusiasm for the sequel back in September. He even revealed that the script for The Girl Who Played With Fire was starkly different from the book and the prospect of bringing it to the big screen was something he was looking forward to.
One thing’s for certain with Fincher having no direct scheduled plans for this sequel and Mara’s recent comments about the project a continuation of the story, if possible, will be a long time in coming.
