Lego Movie Duo Set To Direct Han Solo Prequel.

We already know that there’s to be a Boba Fett movie and a space heist movie as part of the Star Wars anthology series of films but now it’s been officially confirmed that Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the dynamic duo behind the mega successful Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street films, will be helming a Han Solo prequel.

This is pretty massive news considering the fact that Miller and Lord seem to have the midas touch when it comes to film making. They also manage to knock it out of the park on the small screen too, if you’ve been lucky enough to watch the hilarious series The Last Man On Earth.

The plot for the Han Solo stand-alone will ostensibly be an origin story, exploring exactly how the young Han got himself involved in smuggling and thieving. The script has been written by the legendary Lawrence Kasden, who also co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi and the forthcoming Force Awakens, along with his son Jon Kasden, (Freaks And Geeks, Dawson’s Creek).

Following the announcement Lord and Miller released the following statement:

“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”

The as of yet untitled Han Solo movie is slated for release on May 25th, 2018. Now let the debate begin about who should play the iconic character.

Ryan Reynolds?
