Even though the film has a marmite, love it or loathe it, quality it seems the prospect of making even more cash from this property, is now the main focus.
With no time to spare movie executives have already pounced on the prospect of a sequel and apparently Joker 2 is already in the early stages of development, even though Phoneix has yet to officially confirm his return. Rumour has it the movie will deal with the rise of Arthur Fleck as the Clown Prince of Crime and characters such as Two-Face and Penguin are tipped to make an appearance.
This is where things get a little sticky as there’s a Batman feature in production, (The Batman), starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, scheduled for release in 2021 and Catwoman, The Riddler and The Penguin have all been confirmed as featured characters. Are we going to have two parallel Gotham City located, DC universe franchises competing for box office receipts at the same time?
