Spielberg Planning To Remake West Side Story.

Earlier this year Fox Broadcasting company moved West Side Story out from it’s archive and the Hollywood rumour mill went into overdrive, speculating that the classic musical may be getting prepped for a remake.

Various different websites are now reporting that legendary director Steven Spielberg has expressed an interest in helming the remake with an overview of giving the classic property a modern ‘gritty’ adaptation. Fans of the original will be aware that West Side Story is ostensibly a modern ‘gritty’ adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Not sure which direction Spielberg would take the remake, but I for one would love to see a Blood and Crips version.
