Trailer For Mad Max: Fury Road Looks Gorgeous.
For a cynical bastard like myself it’s very difficult for me to experience genuine excitement for any franchise or new movie due for release, but I swear I felt a little twinge in my left thigh when I watched the first official trailer, (see above), for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
I’ve been pretty sceptical about this title ever since it was first announced, regardless of the fact that it’s more of a reboot and a continuation of the franchise than a straight remake, but the bleak, desolate vision on display here instantly appeals to me, probably due to the fact I myself am a little bleak and desolate. The title character has been recast in the form of Tom Hardy who stars alongside Charlize Theron and George Miller is back in the director’s chair. Like a live-action Bethesda Fallout RPG this movie not only looks gorgeous but is also unlike anything else I’ve seen this year.
The plot of Fury Road rattles along like so:
An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and mostly everyone is crazed, fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
Mad Max: Fury Road is set for release in May 2015.
