A second stab, (excuse the pun), at rebooting the Friday The 13th franchise has been delayed with Paramount Studios pushing the project back from 2016 to 2017.
If you put the 2009, Michael Bay produced, reboot to one side this production which has V/H/S director David Bruckner attached to helm, was rumoured to by-pass the disappointing most recent effort to revive the franchise and instead of a sequel, would move the story back into the past, or more appropriately Jason Vorhees’ past.
Hannibal writer Nick Antosca has been hired to formulate the screenplay but will probably have more time to iron out the creases with the film’s early 2016 summer release date, now being rescheduled for January 13th 2007. This delay does not bode well for the project as that month is generally considered the worst for box office takings.
Right now it’s a waiting game.
